Bioaugmentation of Aerobic Granular Sludge with Dye-Decolorizing Yeast for Textile Industrial Wastewater

A sequencing batch reactor (SBR) inoculated with activated sludge and bioaugmented a dye-decolorizing yeast strain—Yarrowia lipolytica (HOMOGST27AB) was assembled to form yeast-bioaugmented aerobic granular (AGS). The AGS-SBR operated for the treatment of synthetic saline wastewater (12 g L−1) intermittently fed reactive textile dye (Navy Everzol ED) at 25, 15, 7.5 mg L−1. Dye degradation did not occur, although some adsorbed granules. performance in removing carbon nitrogen good affected by addition. Bioaugmentation Y. occurred success, proved samples from granules throughout operation. AGS core microbiome gathered essentially microorganisms Proteobacteria Bacteroidetes phyla. microbial profile showed dynamic established Phase I operation, high decrease abundance Ignavibacterium initial biomass formed an increase Actinobacteria, Cytophagia, Flavobacteria, Alphaproteobacteria remaining phases bioreactor
